About me
Hello! My name is Anastassia. I am a native Russian speaker from Kaliningrad, who came to the UK in 1996. I have lived in Yorkshire longer than in Russia and my life is truly split between the two countries. I love and teach all things Russian and English! I am a qualified teacher in both the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom. I hold degrees in English (Kaliningrad), Linguistics (York) and Interpreting (Bradford). In 2017 I completed a course in the Methods of Teaching Russian to Bilingual Children (Moscow State University). I have a bilingual son and work part-time as a Research Project Officer in the higher education sector.

My Favourite Subject Is Russian: 30 Texts for school students
This book is aimed at school students who study Russian for a GCSE exam or any young learner of Russian at the upper A2 / lower B1 level. The 30 texts presented in this book focus on the five themes set by the Pearson Edexcel Examination Body (2017 specification):
1. Identity and Culture;
2. Local Area, Holiday and Travel;
3. School;
4. Future aspirations, study and work;
5. International and Global Dimension.
A British schoolboy Oliver, whose favourite subject is Russian, narrates about his teenage life in the county of Yorkshire and beyond and gives his views on the above-mentioned topics. All words in the texts contain stress marks to facilitate correct reading and pronunciation. All texts contain recommended, including higher tier, vocabulary, as well as additional words derived from the same root. At the end of each text, you will find thematic questions, which form the basis of the productive skills - speaking and writing. At the back of this book, there is a list of useful words and phrases for structured, reasoned and personalised communication. The book can be used by teachers as a supplementary resource or by students for self-study and exam preparation.
